The Rising Sun is a thriving independent community Gastropub located in the S10 (Fulwood) area of Sheffield (just a short walk from Ecclesall Road) providing an excellent selection of craft beer + real ale alongside a creative, seasonal food menu that aims to showcase the best of local produce with both modern and classical techniques. It has been the Abbeydale Brewery tap since 2005 and recently transitioned to Employee Ownership, which means the business is owned by, and operated for, the benefit of its employees. We believe in doing things the right way, so all our food is fresh and the vast majority locally sourced, including working with local allotment owners on a beer for produce scheme and other independent small businesses.

We are looking to expand our current Chef team with the addition of a Chef De Partie. We are looking for a team player with excellent work ethic, communication and organisational skills, who loves working with fresh produce, is passionate about the food they prepare and wants to bring their own personal creativity to our menu. Training in allergens and Lvl 2 Food Safety will be given, if not already held.

Front of House Supervisor

This works alongside our high-quality gastro food offering with an emphasis on excellent quality fresh food, which has been locally sourced and is professionally served in our dedicated dining room and throughout the venue.
A 10-minute walk from Ecclesall Road with excellent transport links, we’re located in the leafy suburb of Nethergreen and on the doorstep of the affluent Fulwood Village, bordering the S10/S11 postcode area. Our ideal candidate will be energetic and enthusiastic with a positive attitude and drive. They will be adept at directing and delegating to the rest of our team, possess excellent communication skills, have a keen eye for detail, and enjoy leading by example by being ‘hands on’ as necessary. Although this role is based across all aspects of Front of House management, preference will be given to candidates with a floor or restaurant based background. The ideal candidate will also be social media proficient and have an interest in assisting with the design of menus and website management. .
Essential Requirements:
- Availability for 35-45 hours per week (desired hours to be discussed at interview). A mixture of daytimes, night times and weekend shifts on a rota basis. Willing to provide holiday and absence cover as required.
- Experience of providing full table service of a fresh, a la carte, food offering and previous training in allergen management and food safety
- Cellar experience, in particular with cask ales (using vertical extraction systems)
- Confidence to direct a team, delegate tasks and use initiative to solve problems as they arise
- Ability to create an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere for new and existing customers
- Have previously worked at a Supervisor/DM level for 6 months plus
Desirables:
- An existing personal licence would be preferred, but we are willing to provide training and support to achieve this.
- Cellar experience (changing casks and kegs, stock rotation, cleaning lines)
- A passion for real ale
- Social media proficient
- Experience with Photoshop or Canva
- Website management experience
Duties will include:
- Running of shifts including directing staff, delegating tasks, cashing up tills, opening and closing the premises
- Managing bookings, emails and pre-orders
- Making sure front and back of house is kept clean and tidy during operational hours
- Ensuring the safety of staff and customers by complying with daily due diligence and risk assessments
- Making sure smooth communication is occurring between front and back of house
- Ensuring staff are happy, confident and feel supported in their role
- Assisting with staff training and induction as required
- Making sure customers are happy, receiving attentive service and enjoying their visit
Pay: £21,203.00 - £27,261.00 per year depending on hours
